Duff Watson's Story

Sydney, Australia

I'm the youngest of seven kids, and have always really been close to my mom and dad. I've been a bit of a rolling stone though, and at least with the CEIVA®, they think that I'm a bit more grounded.

In August 2004 while living in Denver, my wife and I had our son, Duffy, named after my Dad. We purchased the CEIVA for them as a Christmas gift, so that they could see him daily despite the distance. In 2005 we moved to Minneapolis, and in late 2006 we moved to Sydney, Australia. We have since added to our family with Lucy, born in December 2007. Knowing that they can 'see' us daily puts us at ease; plus I think it's probably fun to show off the new pictures to their friends.

The 'other side' of my CEIVA family is all of my sisters, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, friends and former bosses who are able to see our latest adventures. These are our email contacts that, with one click, can see an entire slideshow.

The best thing about CEIVA is that it allows digital photos to become a dynamic part of the lives of those closest to us, without having to send huge files over an email client. CEIVA also breaks down the 'digital divide' of multiple generations. My parents are in their seventies, and aren't very web savvy, but they can receive the benefits of the digital photos over the internet in an easy-to-use interface. Best of all, CEIVA is really easy to use, no attachments to open and JPEGs that are 'usable.'

An ongoing story that I can relate is just about the CEIVA in general. For my parents, it sits on their breakfast counter. With the settings that I can control, the CEIVA "wakes" up when they do, and providing that I was a diligent son, there are new photos waiting for them at least a few times a week. According to my mom, when my sisters come to visit, the first thing they do is check out the CEIVA to see what Duffy and Lucy are up to. Let's be honest, the CEIVA gives me a leg-up on the sibling competition for delivering grandkid 'content' to my parents!
